Tips for Safe Dating Online

Dating online as a lesbian is not much different from dating online as a heterosexual person. Safety is always paramount. Next comes having a great time and enjoying the experience with the hopes of finding the woman of your dreams.
Be honest in your profile. That doesn’t mean that you should flaunt any qualities that you are not so proud of, but you surely shouldn’t hide them. For example, don’t say that you have a slim build if you are in plus size clothing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being skinny or with being curvy, but save yourself the time and your potential date the time and just be honest in the beginning.
Don’t be too serious in the beginning. Too often online dating turns into an interrogation with brutally honest responses to very personal questions. The internet is supposed to be used as the medium to find a date, not to determine if that date is going to be your soul mate. Meet in person to see if you mesh well. E-mails and instant messages simply do not portray an individual well enough to allow you to truly decide if you could possibly have a long term relationship with someone. Once you do meet, it will likely take several dates before you know if you want to continue dating and form a committed relationship. Don’t rush yourself into feeling like you need to make life altering decisions on the very first date.
Meet somewhere public for your first date. Just because you are dating women does not mean that dating is completely safe. Follow all of the same safety rules that you would advise anyone else to follow. Tell someone where you are going and what you plan to do. Ideally, bring a friend with you. You can even encourage your date to bring a friend. Who knows, it could turn out to be a fun double date.
Have fun! Dating is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, so make sure that you go out to have a good time. Make sure that your dates start off fairly casual so that you can learn more about your date and determine if you have personalities that will mesh well together. If you decide that a romantic relationship is out of the question with this particular woman, nothing says that you can’t be friends with her if you like her.
