Tips for Creating Your Dating Profile
By Selena Horn
Online dating has been increasingly popular, especially among lesbians who are seeking romantic partners to share their lives. Sadly, without an effective female profile picture, some users find it hard to attract potential lovers on lesbian dating sites.
To draw other users’ attention, the profile picture should be clear. Although you may be tempted to use a blurry shot of yourself, this profile may decrease your chance of attracting your future lover. Also, the picture should not be deceptive. Don’t use a photo of yourself taken five to six years ago. This will only create a false impression to others which will lead to disappointment or even anger.
A good profile picture should should show you relaxing in somewhere comfortable. Research has shown that online dating site users are usually more attracted to photos taken in a home setting. Also, do not think that an artistic black and white photo will lead to more clicks—most users prefer someone with a down to earth profile picture. Don’t forget to smile, as that give off an impression that you are cheerful and optimistic.
When you shoot your profile picture, you may integrate elements of your hobbies into the photo. For example, if you enjoy playing the guitar, then include the guitar in the photo. This will give your potential partner a glimpse into what you enjoy and what you like.
Do not wear clothes that are too revealing. Remember, you want to potentially find a long-term partner through the online dating site, so you would like your partner to like you as a person but not only your body. Dress in something comfortable yet attractive. That will make you feel and look confident, which is one of the most attractive features to potential lovers.
Along the same line, your profile picture should not show your embarrassing moment. A lesbian dating site is not Facebook for college students, so photos of you doing a head-stand is no longer appropriate. An alluring profile picture will ideally show you engaging in an interesting activity that you hope your potential partner will understand before meeting you.
