Dating Tips For the Female to Female Crowd

By Selena Horn

When you find yourself single and ready to look for that next special someone, there is always the first attempt. The introductions have been made and now it’s time to show some interest. The time has arrived to partake in that most fun (and yet at times fraught with peril) activity: flirting. If you are new to being a woman flirting with other women, or if you have been out of the flirting game for a while, this can be a difficult step to take. We have gathered here a few tips to help you take that step and to get you started on the road of what might be your next great relationship.

Make Eye Contact
You are at a social event, a gathering or a bar perhaps, and you find the perfect target for your flirtatious onslaught, but aren’t sure how your advances will come off. The first thing you can do is make sure you are directly facing the woman you are trying to flirt with. Look her in the eyes when you speak to her (especially if you are in a group). Make sure you let her know you are interested in everything she is saying, and that you are directing what you are saying to her because you hope she is interested in what you have to say.

Body Language and Proximity
Once the conversation is rolling and you’ve made a bit of eye contact, show your flirtee that you aren’t afraid to get physical…a little bit. If you are standing together, hopefully alone, you might want to occasionally put your hand on her shoulder as a natural part of conversation. Avoid using quick or violent hand gestures as it might make you come off as aggressive. If you are sitting together side by side, try letting your legs or thighs touch. Not only does this create intimacy but it also lets you know if your flirting is working or if she isn’t interested.

Be A “Care Giver”
Taking an interest in conversation isn’t the only way to get your girl to notice you are interested. Simple things like getting her a drink if you are at a bar or another social function, or helping her into her seat, getting the door for her. These things seem like simple manners, but combined with other flirting tips can show your are interested.

Other little things help after the initial round of flirting, such as dropping her a note or message saying what fun you had spending time with her. All these things can help you flirt and possibly start your next great relationship, but above all it’s important that you be yourself and let your personality shine through.
